Capitol Hill

Well, what can you say about Capitol Hill that hasn’t already been said on Fox News? Well, quite a lot. In addition to CHOP and CHAZ, there’s also BEER. Capitol Hill (or “Cap Hill” as it’s known by newcomers) is a bustling neighborhood of bars, restaurants, event type places (Think ax throwing, bowling and pool, with over-the-top music and pulsating lights – combined). It even has an old Dick’s Drive In, which is the stapliest of Seattle’s Staples.

It also has a plethora of beer factories, churning out huge waves of beer topped with frothy IPAs.

Don’t be fooled by the big name and the fancy website – this place is so down-to-earth (oh – I see what I did there). It’s an unassuming brewery in an un-assuming building. It has a great little selection of beers, and lots of board games to play if you get, erm, well, bored. Its beer names do lean in a bit too hard into the theme (“Ground Control to Major Pom”), but overall an excellent place to park your thrusters while you orbit the beer menu.

If you’re looking for something big, bold and much more millennial, then this is your place. A large beer selection and a large trendy section.

Ah, I’m nostalgic for bars that had too many IPAs. If you’re looking to reminisce – then reminisce here. Redhook is a well known brand around these parts.

Elysian Brewing is another large brewery that has quite a few IPAs. More than Redhook? – pop by to find out.

McMenaminS is a weird PNW thing. It’s like the soul of Twin Peaks died off somewhere in season two and decided to be something useful. One of the useful things it decided to be was beer and cider. And while it may not be your typical brewery, you may enjoy the overt quirkiness of one of the incarnations at Six Arms.

Trying to emulate the Bavarian Beer Halls of old, except without the trainee dictators. This massive German hall is unexpectedly full of Italian bocce ball courts. If you’re into big sausages and small balls, this is the place for you. The beer is what you’d expect from the theme, although I did see an Imperial Stout, so, variaety?
