Wilburton is a strange place. It’s car showrooms and Wholefoods. It’s Chick-fil-hey? and Home Depot. It’s chalk and cheesy. However, all that deep depressing-less-ness allows for a shining star in the gloom.
Measuring 11 on the character scale sits The Pumphouse Bar & Grill. I’m not normally into American Bars, but this one is great. Yes it has TVs annoyingly strewn about, yes it has Coors Light, yes it has deep fried squid. but it also has bags of charm, some crafty beers, more crafty food and little patio. It’s right outside the station, you can actually fall into it. Getting back to platform level after a few bevies can be a bit more challenging.
