Redmond is a mash of a new-ish section, called “Redmond Town Center” and older sections called “Redmond”. The sections don’t want to play with each other. The newer section used to be mainly shops, but it’s starting to be more activity based. where “activity” can be swimming, movie watching or, better, drinking. The older sections are little islands of their own making. Given the size of the place, there’s very little brew activity near the station.
What used to be called “Pint & Pie Tap House” is now called Northwest Brewing Co. The good news is that they still do the pies, proper pies with names like “Chicken Pot Pie” and “Beef Pot Pie” and not wussy names like “Apple Pie” or “American Pie”. Oh, looks like it actually does “Spicy Apple Pie”. I digress, back to the place. The interior doesn’t read high on the charm meter, giving off school cafeteria vibes, but it does have an interesting wall dressing (if that’s a term). Is it wallpaper? Is it a mural? Pop by and find out.
The Flatstick Pub is also close to the station. This is the sort of place you’d end up for a team building, where you get to smack small balls with a small stick. It has a large local beer selection. There are a few Flat Stick Pubs in the Seattle area, but this one is the closest to the Light Rail. Pop by and play some Duffleboard – whatever that is.
